March 8th – International Women’s Day 2020

Today is March 8th, International Women’s Day. Today is the first day since entering this new decade that we get to celebrate International Women’s Day!

What is International Women’s Day, you ask?


International Women’s Day is a Day devoted to the movement for women’s rights.

Commemoration of international women’s day today ranges from being a public holiday in some countries to being a to being largely ignored elsewhere. In some places, it is a day of protest; in others, it is a day that celebrates womanhood.

in 1910, German delegates Clara Zetkin, Kate Dunker and others proposed at the International Socialist Women’s conference that a “special women Day” be organized annually.

In 1917, after women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia, March 8th became a national holiday there and after that? The day was then predominantly celebrated by socialist movement and communist countries until it was then adopted by the feminist movement in about 1976.

The united Nation began celebrating international women day in the international women’s year, 1975. In 1977, the untied Nation General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8th as the UN (United Nations) day for women’s right and world peace

Random Acts of Kindness Day 2020

SOMETIMES IT IS THE SMALLEST ACTS THAT CAN HOLD THE BIGGEST IMPACTS.

IN TODAY’S, DAY AND AGE WE ARE FACED WITH A GREAT DEAL OF EVIL AND NEGATIVITY THROWN AT US FROM EVERY ANGLE AND AT TIMES WE CAN GET LOST…SOMETIMES EVEN DROWN IN THE INJUSTICE AND BITTERNESS OF OTHER PEOPLE’S REVENGE, WARS, SUFFERING AND WORLD PROBLEMS. IT’S A LOT OF NEGATIVE SH*T TO CONSTANTLY BE SURROUNDED BY AND TAKE IN ON A DAILY BASIS.
BECAUSE OF THIS WE TEND TO FORGET THAT THERE IS GOOD IN THE WORLD, THERE IS STILL KINDNESS OUT THERE AND PEOPLE WHO WANT TO OFFER IT and have it offered.

Have you ever wished to live in a world where people showed more compassion for one another? A world where we see the strong struggling, the weak, the fragile, scared…the slightly broken and instead of labelling them, instead of mocking them, instead of having a part in their self hatred by making them feel less important or useless…everyone instead, helped them. Made them feel good, worthy and important.

What if we lived in a world where all we did was help one another? Were we don’t let our jealously and insecurities take over in the form of a spiteful comment or hate stare. One where instead we were simply…kind to each other.

Nation Random acts of kindness day is a day dedicated to those believers, to those dreamers who dream of a kinder world or kinder people in a world that can, at times, be cruel to those who inhabit it.

Celebrated on 17th February every year, National ‘Random acts of kindness Day’ has grown in mass popularity every passing year.

Random acts of kindness day is celebrated nationwide by groups, organisations and individuals. This is done in the hopes of encouraging other people to do these random acts of kindness.

This day is a day Favorited by many – myself included – as people everywhere are enjoying doing these little random acts of kindness.

Reasons you should get involved.

So, you might be sat there thinking to yourself, why should you care about today? Why should you take part in Random Acts Of Kindness Day? Well, I decided to take it upon myself to create a little list, listing all the reasons why I believe EVERYONE should get take part.

It can make a person’s entire day…maybe even week! Sometimes it can even save a life.



one small act of kindness in someone dark day can save a life.
You never know the struggles, the challenges or the demons that people are battle with every single day.
you never know when someone is at the end of their tether is ready for a way out.
You can’t be sure that friend who always smiles is smiling because he/she thinks they are finally going to end their pain/struggles.
you can never know that fashionable friend of yours suffers with bad self-image so extreme that they CONSTANTLY question who they are…because every time they look in the mirror, it’s a different person.
That person working so hard at becoming a cook? you may never know that they spend every second of every day/night battling with an eating disorder that is slowly cutting through their soul.

there is so much that we don’t see, so much that we still don’t know. We can never begin to guess what a person is truly battling with.
not all sickness is viable to the human eye.

More than anything, YOU CAN’T BE SURE THAT YOUR SMILE, YOUR FRIENDLY COMPLIMENT, YOUR OFFER TO JUST LISTEN CAN BE WHAT CHANGES THEIR DECISIONS.
You don’t always need to understand someone to help someone.

Compliments are life’s little treasures!

A SMALL COMPLIMENT CAN MAKE AN person’s entire week!

SO many of us suffer with self-image and INSECURITIES that we find our self constantly in a battle with ourselves. It can get so bad that it can eventually get depressed from it and you can find yourself obsessed/fixed how you look.
one bad comment about how we look can stick with us for a long while, it can play a loop inside your head and find a way to haunt your dreams. One too many negative comments can just be too much for our emotional/mental state. it can really effect people with what you say.

so, why not use that power to instead say something nice to someone? COMPLIMENT a FRIEND, a family member, a stranger.
A compliment can stay with someone for just as long as any negative comment, to spread some kindness, help someone rid themselves of NEGATIVITY brought on by someone else, by giving out a free and friendly compliment!

There’s just so much bad lately…a little kindness would be a nice way to greet the new decade.

last year… and let’s face it, most of the years before that, were terrible years to push through (for some of us).
There were a lot of deaths.
A lot of hysteria of clowns and attacks from terrorists.
a lot of people went through a lot of personal stuff and self-growth.
some people had to become a COMPLETELY different people just to survive.
….
last decade was rubbish.
It would be amazing to bring a little more kindness into this decade, to help wash away some of pain that lingers from last decade.
and to give hope back to those who need.

I could argue all day and make a 10-hour bullet-point presentation on why I believe everyone should not only take part into today but always carry this day with you through rest of this decade by giving out random act of kindness every day or week or month.

More than anything…you just have to be a nice person wanting and willing to do nice things. That’s what Random Act of Kindness Day is, it’s to remind you to be kind and show kindness! Those are who you’ll find celebrating and taking part in Random Act of Kindness Day.

But don’t just hold your random acts of kindness for only one day, do this every day, once a week, once a month! It doesn’t matter, just try to fit some acts of kindness into your life, and you never know, maybe someone will randomly repay you the favour through one of their random acts of kindness.

Name calling never bothered me anyway

This experience is told and was lived my Lauren. A bibliophile and owner of a book blog called ‘Readers Enjoy Authors Dreams‘. (click the name to be directed to her amazing blog!)

I used to get bullied because of the way that I looked, in the bullies opinion I had a big forehead and used to get called names like ‘five head’, ‘alien’ and ‘boom head’ the name calling was occasionally accompanied by a slap on the forehead.

This first started in year three I went to a private school and I used to cross paths with some of the older boys.

They used to call me ‘five head’ at the time I didn’t know what was going on so I shrugged it off and thought nothing of it.

My parents moved so I moved to a normal secondary school where the bullying became worse every day walking around from year seven to eleven I would get ‘forehead’, ‘boom head’ and ‘five head’ shouted at me on a daily basis even if I wasn’t in school.

I will admit at the beginning of year nine it made me feel so ugly and so annoyed that I was different from everybody else because of the way I looked slightly different.

I remember one day in year eleven I was sat talking to a friend about being bullied and I realised that I had been called the same names over and over again most of my academic life and

I laughed at the fact that they couldn’t think of anything new to say.

Name calling is something I’ve never understood. What exactly are you getting out of it? Other than letting us know how small your vocabulary is… It’s great to know that those name calling school kids never got you down for long, its amazing that you were able to let those comments bounce off you like they are nothing, because that’s what they are nothing. Words made to make you feel bad because they feel bad or unhappy with themselves.

Glad to be out of January? You are not alone!

I won’t lie, I got a rough start to the new year and I’ve pretty much sworn off drinking forever and coming from someone who probably drinks 3 times throughout the entire year… that pretty much means never ever again. Although I have been known to change my mind at times.

Although I wouldn’t really say that January was a total loss. I had two really great weeks where the mood was positive and the energy high. My workouts were going amazing and yoga has become my home therapy.

But more than the good vibes that were going around during those two weeks I had also accomplished a few personal goals of mine that have made me rather proud of myself.

But for me, two good weeks do not make up for the beginning of the year and the rest of the month being so terribly… chaotic. And with that being said I am so glad to finally have seen the light of February!

Personally, for me, February is one of three of my toughest months to get through and I usually find myself spending most of my time dreading the moment February comes around the corner but after last year I have made it my personal mission to change all the routinely bad things that go wrong in my life and find a way to make it positive.

This February I have decided to change what it means to me, I have decided to not let the bad things overrule a month that could hold a lot of potential for new opportunities that I usually miss out on due to self-pity and wallowing over things that can’t be changed.

                    A week or two before I was due to release my blog!

The first step to adding something positive into February was to finish setting my blog up and then releasing it out into the world. I originally planned on doing this a year ago but sometimes life has a funny way of ruining your plans and so I had to hold it off for a year.


The second thing was to start my yoga back up. Ever since things started going bad in January I strayed away from yoga, but now I’ve committed myself to doing “yoga therapy” at least once a day. I have to say that it has really helped a lot, it has helped me to take a step back and centre myself. Not to mention the physical benefits of it. I’ve created muscle I never knew I had, become more flexible than I thought possible and my back pain & leg pains that I’ve suffered with since I was really young is almost none existent!

The third thing I’ve done to help add a little positivity into my February happened by chance. I received a message from my mam telling me that my favourite stall had come back to the shopping centre but she wasn’t sure if the man doing it was still selling the incense sticks that I got really obsessed with three years ago. Also, Iceland started selling unicorn nuggets… so of course I bought some! Since my younger sister shares my love the mythical creatures we both ate the unicorns together (after taking pictures).

The same day I went to that shopping centre to have a little look and instantly spotted my favourite incense sticks, without hesitation I pick them up ready to purchase them but then stopped in my tracks. I wanted to get myself another one but with a different scent to it and so I stood there for another ten-to-fifteen minutes smelling and trying to decide which one I was going to pick next. I ended up deciding on ‘Mermaid Love’ which instantly reminded me of those small colourful sweets, FIZZERS and couldn’t resist buying them along with my ‘Unicorn Grace.’

Number four was when I bought a new notebook along with a new journal for myself. I can’t speak for everyone but I am simply obsessed with notebooks! I’ve loved writing ever since I was a little girl and I can never have too many places to jot down my thoughts, ideas, feelings, novels plans / (attempts) and so much more, there really isn’t anything I don’t or haven’t written about. If I love it, if it interests me or my family/friends/readers then I’m writing about!

The fifth to help me on my journey to a better February was to engage with more people, to put myself out there a little more and connect with other bloggers/authors. It’s really amazing what talking to other people can do to help the creativity to flow through you. 

Doing this was so incredibly hard for me, due to me extreme and sever anxiety and you are probably wondering how someone like me was able to do such thing. Well it’s pretty simple, I turned to social media, I created accounts for my blog and reached out to other like –minded people who then introduced me to other lovely people with different opinions, goals and hobbies. Some of the social sites I  used to achieve this is- INSTAGRAM \ TWITTER \ PINTEREST

We are almost half way through February and I plan to continue this journey of better days and better months. I feel the more you try to implement positivity into your life the more you start to notice all the positive things in life that you tend to miss during the bad moments.

I have also decided to buy myself a notebook, one I will use to dedicate to all the positive changes I want to make this year, as well as the goals I want to achieve.
I’ve also started writing novels again and I’m currently working on one that I have plans to publish once finished (I’m super duper excited for that). I want to get back into my photography and I’ve started the reading challenge on GoodReads that I’m really excited about. I’ve been a little out of touch with my reading & this has already motivated me to get back into. On top of that, I plan on taking more nature walks with my partner & enjoying all the little moment life has to offer. My notebook collection is only going to go up and I’m determined to stick to my new healthy lifestyle.

Baking, Candle making and therapy yoga is something I am going to be doing with my younger sisters and posting about our progress! I’m also going to be attempting a lot of fun DIY things with my younger brother and I’ll be posting our progress/results on that too. For the first time in a long time, it seems February has something to offer other than pain and bad memories.

I hope this has inspired some of you to go out there and make your month a better month or at least helped some with ideas on how to add some positive things/ changes into your life. My main advice for adding positive changes into your life is to do what makes you happy, what makes your heart feel light and what puts a smile on your face.
